What Factors Affect Our Well-being?

What factors affect our well-being?

Wellness is a complex ecosystem. By “ecosystem” we mean that there are several factors that work together at the same time to influence how we feel. And each of them has different effects and intensities. Wellness is a concept that you hear a lot, but we do not always know exactly what “feeling good” really means. So this may explain why we do not always  know how to get there!

It usually consists of six different factors. These are: the  emotional, intellectual, professional, physical, social  and  spiritual  aspects. Each of these factors can improve or worsen our lives, depending on what happens in each of them, which is why they are so important to our well-being.

Even if we do not understand it, all of these factors, or variables, come into play in our lives. We need to be careful because we may think that our well-being depends on only one or two of them. This one or these two aspects may be the ones that worry or please us the most. However, we must realize that they all work together. Together, they help make our lives rich or poor. Let us analyze each one in more detail.

Wellness and the emotional aspect

This factor has to do with recognizing and accepting your feelings and emotions. It includes the ability to be consistent with yourself and to be aware of your own strengths and limitations.

Emotional well-being is the ability to express your feelings and understand others. It is also the ability to evaluate yourself properly. In addition to this, it can be expressed as self-confidence and proactivity.

We experience well-being intellectually when we have curiosity and a desire to learn. We are trying new ways to solve problems. This aspect also includes examining and evaluating different intellectual views.

The occupational factor

Occupational well-being is when we get satisfaction through the work we do. There is a good attitude to work and the ability to find a job in line with our interests. Occupational well-being is there when we develop new skills in our job or in what we are concerned with on a daily basis. We also associate work with personal values and the desire to improve.

Physical well-being has to do with taking care of our health and our appearance. To get it, we need to meet our nutritional needs, practice good habits and let go of bad habits. Physical well-being seems to have an interest in and care for your body. If you have it, you care about your personal hygiene and how you look. You are physically healthy when all your daily actions point to you taking care of yourself.

The social factor

Social well-being is linked to the ability to create balanced social environments. This includes the ability to relate constructively to people. It also means ending relationships of all kinds that harm us.

Social well-being comes through a solid and stable support network based on mutual help and understanding. Respect is also a good expression of having a “socially good”. In the same way, it includes the ability to set boundaries for those around us.

Spiritual well-being

Spiritual well-being has to do with the meaning and appearance we give to life. It is closely linked to the meaning we give to our own lives. Spirituality is when you can see facts from a long-term perspective. This is when you adopt a set of values and are consistent with them.

Wellness is multifaceted

As you can see, well-being is a word that encompasses many different aspects. As we said, all the factors involved in it are permanently in use. Sometimes we lose sight of one or more people because we are particularly sensitive to another.

It is always important to remember that people are versatile. That is why well-being is such a complex area. Try not to lose sight of any of the aspects that make it up. They are all cohesive, and so when you are missing something in one, other aspects that go well can both help and balance it.
