We could spend hundreds of pages on the topic of stress itself. However  , there are some people who are particularly prone to the effects of stress. In this case, we are talking about a housewife’s many demanding tasks.

Many people believe that the role of a housewife does not cause any pressure because it is a normal occupation. However, this is not the case. Housewives actually perform many tasks.

If we consider intensive work, a high level of responsibility, and lack of free time as causes of stress, then being a housewife is definitely a stressful profession. This means that a housewife’s many demanding tasks lead to her being exposed to many stressors.

Among a housewife’s many demanding tasks, the most important responsibility is to take care of her family and home. Her duties require physical and mental stress.

When it comes to physical stress, it is often perhaps less intense. However, it can be continuous, with few pauses, which can lead to faster worsening of the condition. Housewives’ work is carried out physically throughout the day. They do not have schedules. From the time they wake up to the time they go to bed, they need to be active to meet the needs of the family. From personal care to nutrition, the housewife takes all the work. Furthermore, the responsibility of caring for a dependent family member is also one of a housewife’s many demanding tasks.

At the same time, housewives must maintain order and cleanliness in their homes. This activity is endless because they have to do it again every day. Also, what is worse is the feeling of being inferior due to the routine nature of the work.  You have to arrange things incessantly, and then arrange them again the next day.

The housewife must exercise continuous physical effort

The physical effort housewives exert tends to be more routine than intense. However  some people may assume (and with good reason) that they are also physically stressed. They have to move furniture, carry heavy bags, carry a child in their arms…

It may be true that a housewife has some time to take a break. She can sleep all night. But can she really take a break or sleep? The housewife must be awake day and night for an unforeseen situation, especially if she has small children who are crying, demanding things, or getting sick.

All this physical exertion leads to fatigue. This fatigue leads to muscle fatigue and exhaustion. The stress of being a housewife consists of these factors.

Mental activity results in stress in housewives

People believe that a housewife’s many demanding tasks are activities that do not involve mental work. However, this is not true. She has to prepare the menu, calculate expenses, solve her children’s problems, etc. She has to face many different challenges.

Many professions, such as engineers, lawyers, project developers or air traffic controllers, involve mental exhaustion. But if we go deeper into this, these professions are no more stressful than being a housewife. Both undertake important tasks such as planning, resource management or communicative intelligence.

On the other hand, mental exertion can lead to mental fatigue. This reduces the ability to concentrate, which contributes to emotional instability. Therefore, the stress of being a housewife is increased by her exposure to mental exertion.

The housewife also has a life of her own

A housewife is first and foremost a person. She has her own conflicts, emotions, and psychological problems. What would happen if the housewife suffered from other types of stress, apart from the stress that comes from being a housewife?

We must remember that many housewives, in addition to bearing the full burden of their home, also work outside the home. That is why  we are talking about people who take on two full-time jobs, with little or no help at all. Worst of all, many of these women are misunderstood.

Being a housewife is a tedious job that many women do, even though they never receive the recognition they should. This feeling of being unimportant often acts as a catalyst for stress, triggering a feeling of loneliness and isolation between the walls of the housewife’s home.
